About:

St. John Vianney Community Ministry is the work of parish volunteers.  Community Ministry is a volunteer organization pursuing and participating in community programs established either by the organization or outside organizations.  This self-sufficient group has flourished within our parish.  Their calendar involves the members in various activities fulfilling the needs of both the volunteers and the recipients.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Office work (answer phones; mailings; stuffing; special mailings)
  • Computer work
  • Food Program including handicapables Luncheon, Funerals and monthly program for the homeless at Inn Vision downtown San Jose
  • Home and hospital visits for the sick
  • Sending condolence cards and to the sick
  • Preparing food for funerals and Inn Vision
  • Coordinate with St. Vincent de Paul Society
  • Mothers Day Layette
  • Advent Day of Giving
  • Providing rides to mass and doctor's appointments
  • Field trips, such as:  
          a)  Center for Living with Dying twice yearly; 

          b)  Emergency Housing Consortium to serve lunch to  the homeless quarterly; 
          c)  Lenten Bus trip and day of retreat - San Juan Bautista
  • Provide handyman and yard work
  • Appreciation events/quarterly social meetings
  • Ecumenical week of prayer
